Canning Vale College
Stage 1 of this new school located in Canning Vale, was completed in December 2003. The school consists of four blocks; a library, administration building, specialists and middle school blocks. Civil works associated with the site were also carried out by the firm.
The buildings are generally single storey with slab on ground, pad footings and structural steel roofs. The two storey middle school block includes a suspended reinforced insitu concrete slab. There are a variety of claddings to the buildings including brickwork, metal, glass and tilt-up reinforced wall panels. There are also a variety of roof levels on all buildings and a number of different roof profiles. The high level of Architectural detail was a feature of the design which required a high level of detailed documentation.
Budget and programme were critical to the success of this project. Work was undertaken to ensure practical completion met the requirements of the school year programme. Attention to these items was achieved by having regular consultants meetings through all stages of the schematic design development and documentation stage of the project. This allowed the team to monitor progress of all parties, facilitate coordination and regularly assess costs. The resulting tender documents were completed on time and within budget.
