Eastside Cove ($4.5m)
This six storey mixed-use development in East Perth was completed in September 1999 at a value of $4.5million. It incorporates retail and commercial space, two levels of carparking, office and residential units.
Investigating a number of alternative structural schemes with the developer/builder at concept stage resulted in cast insitu columns and slabs with tilt panel facades. Structural steel columns were used on the upper residential floors to minimise there intrusiveness. An elongated and irregular design shape plus the requirement for these units to withstand earthquake conditions meant that a creative construction approach was required.
A delayed pour strip was successful used to control shrinkage movement with minimal affect on construction.
