Overseas Projects (Up to $40m)

Abattoirs ranging in size from $6 million to $40 million have been designed and documented for construction in various parts of Asia. All of these projects involved assessment of ground conditions and design and documentation of ground improvements, footings, retaining walls, floor slabs etc and in other cases, structural steel building and equipment supporting framework.

Providing the right civil and structural solution required an assessment of local loading factors and design requirements, an understanding of local methods of construction, and often involved complicated ground conditions.

The Buffalo Processing Facility for Punjab Meats Ltd (pictured), the Integrated Meat Processing Facility for Hind Agricultural Industries Ltd near Aligarth India and the Meat Processing Facility at Lekin Perak in Malaysia are three examples of successfully operating plants designed by Pritchard Francis.  With plan areas of up to 10,000m2 , these abattoirs required significant co-ordination of structure and services due to most areas within the building being temperature controlled.

Management of costs, both initially at time of construction and for the life cycle, is critical to the success of these projects. Pritchard Francis assisted in the preparation of initial budgets and feasibility studies and successfully managed civil and structural costs through to project completion.
