St Martin Arcade & Forecourt
This $11m refurbishment of an existing 30 year-old cinema complex involved major concrete and steelwork demolition and construction of new floors over 4 levels. Located between St Georges Terrace and Hay Street, adjacent to the 34 storey office tower, it required careful noise abatement procedures, after – hours work and major materials handling through the Hay Street Mall. The major existing tenant was able to trade throughout the works due to the design of temporary structures that avoided the need to prop down through lower levels.
Pritchard Francis was responsible for the support structure for the alpolic and granite façade elements. Close liaison between architect, engineer and contractor ensured the structure was adequately designed and located.
