The architecturally appealing Willetton Senior High School involved the redevelopment of the existing facilities, including seven teaching buildings, playing courts, additional car parking and access roads. All buildings were integrated within the existing school site, requiring careful attention to detail, especially in locations where buildings were tied to the existing structures.
A forward works stage was undertaken to construct playing courts, cricket nets and a new access road (to roadbase level), in order to minimise disruption to school activities and facilitate the main building works.
A lightweight bridge was designed between the buildings, to ensure Water Corporation access requirements for the existing dia 915mm sewer distribution main running through the site would be met. The bridge is readily removable in the event of sewer replacement or maintenance.
