Carnarvon Community College - Stage 2 & 3
- Design of the private Waste Water Pump Station & Pressure Main to a discharge location 2.1km from the site.
- Given the cyclonic nature of the weather in Carnarvon, roof gutters were not an option and as such the earthworks were designed to provide flood paths along with a pit and pipe network to allow for the stormwater to be directed into the appropriate areas - such as the oval and council swale - to prevent flooding of buildings.
- Car parks designed without pit and pipe network by tying into existing Shire swales across a flat site in accordance with WSUD principles, as well as reducing construction and maintenance costs for the client.
Pritchard Francis has been engaged to undertake civil engineering consultancy services for Stage 2 and civil and structural services for Stage 3 of this project.
Stage 2 of the Carnarvon Community College development consists of four new buildings, a sports court, a new car park, redesign of an existing car park and expansion of the existing canteen building - designed to accommodate 600 students and 150 staff as part of the overall college development.
Stage 3 of the development works includes a new secondary education facility to be constructed on the existing East Carnarvon Primary School site, and will form a K-12 community college. Civil and structural design for this part of the project includes design, documentation and site administration of earthworks, road works, stormwater management and disposal, a specialist learning block, performing arts and music blocks, sports hall, secondary GLA block, technology and enterprise learning blocks, hardcourts, oval, new car park off Gascoyne Road and minor refurbishments to the existing administration building into student services.
