Structural Engineering

Structural design incorporates all elements of the building form. It encourages creativity and requires integration of aesthetic design, functionality, constructability and commerciality. Providing structures that resist imposed loads and perform appropriately for their intended use is fundamental. The challenge of structural engineering is to provide the right solution to projects in an economical way without compromise.

Pritchard Francis implements innovative structural engineering solutions incorporating economical design and sustainable principles.

Our team regularly provides structural engineering consultancy services within the following sectors:

Distribution Centres

While warehouses may be perceived to be "standard" and commonly rely on an ‘off the shelf’ repetitive approach because of their size, these buildings provide opportunities to utilise the benefits of a tailor made solution.

Warehouses are heavily influenced by cost and bay spacing and because of their size and repetitive nature it is crucial to investigate alternative solutions to ensure the most efficient and economical scheme is adopted. Once the scheme is developed, the model can be exported to a shop detailer to accelerate the design and fabrication process. BIM process can also be utilised with great accuracy to check steel and concrete volumes throughout the documentation period.

Pritchard Francis has completed hundreds of specialist warehouses across Western Australia. Some services have included roof lifts (modifying and raising the roof on an existing warehouse to increase storage space).
