The Kailis & France factory building includes preparation, processing and storage areas with chilled freezers and packing halls. The staged handover of specific areas ensured that all processes were integrated during construction, enabling the facility to remain fully operational at all times.

Inspection tours to Japan, the United Kingdom and Europe by the Client and consultants preceded the setting of extremely high standards for this new $12M food processing facility in Osborne Park. From floor construction right through to final detailing, the project had to match and improve on the world’s best practice in hygiene, work place safety and security.

Among the many engineering challenges was the removal of a significant depth of peat material. Dewatering had to be carefully controlled to avoid damage to adjacent structures and equipment.
