Bridge 132 & 177 Inspection & Remediation
Transport
Pritchard Francis, along with sub consultant BG&E, were engaged to conduct Level 2 site inspections of Water Corporation bridges 132 (MRWA No. 4389) and 177 (MRWA No. 4461).
After taking over responsibility of the operation and maintenance of the bridges, the Water Corporation found there were inconsistencies between the previous inspection reports and what is visible on site. A report was produced to summarise the current condition of the bridges and compares it with what’s been recorded previously. Where maintenance was identified as being needed, recommendations and high-level costings have been provided.
It was found that Bridge 132 had undergone some widening works recently and was largely in good condition. The most urgent issue to be attended to was the scour below one of the abutments. Bridge 177 was found to be in a worse state, having deteriorated further since the previous inspection. It was recommended that a number of halfcap and corbel replacements are implemented and that a load rating is undertaken as a high priority.
