- The tight building footprint required the use of two storey teaching blocks. Multiple structural options where investigated with hollow core pre-cast planks found to be the most structurally efficient solution. The precast planks also allowed long column-free teaching spaces.
Doubleview Primary School is a primary education facility for Kindergarten to Year 6 students. The International School of Western Australia (K-12) will co-locate with the Doubleview Primary School. The new school was constructed on the grounds of the original school, utilising the oval on the southwest corner of the site, with the International School occupying the vacated primary school premises.
EIW Architects engaged Pritchard Francis to provide civil and structural engineering services for the Doubleview Primary School project. The scope involved design, documentation and site administration of the new primary school, incorporating:
- Administration building;
- Library/staff room block;
- Covered assembly with canteen and music room;
- Four teaching blocks; and
- Car parks and associated works.
