The Tannock Hall of Education is the second purpose built new building on the University of Notre Dame Australia’s Fremantle Campus.

The project comprised of a three level education building including 350 seat lecture theatre on the ground floor, with provision in design to allow for extension of an additional future level.  The requirement of a clear and column free space at lecture theatre level on the ground floor was solved by an innovative floor truss design supporting floors above.  Complex building structural elements were specifically chosen to suit custom requirements of the building and expedite speed of construction.  Elements included effective use of concrete precast flooring and beams, steel floor truss and insitu and concrete columns and walls supported on pad and pile foundations. Our proactive involvement during construction significantly assisted with the overall success of this project.

Pritchard Francis was commissioned to undertake the structural engineering design, documentation and site administration services. Located within a sensitive heritage precinct, careful consideration was given to construction techniques and sequencing.
