Hidden away from the Derby Highway in the native Kimberley bushland, 7km from the Derby town centre, stands the West Kimberley Region Prison (WKRP).
Pritchard Francis played an important role in the design and site administration of the $150 million facility, undertaking all civil and structural components for the project. The team was led by The Architecture Group (TAG) and iredale pedersen hook architects (IPH) - Architects in Association.
Building structures were steel framed with infill light weight prefabricated stud wall panels, producing a robust and durable solution for the security and cyclonic requirements.
Pritchard Francis welcomed the opportunity to work on this challenging and unique project. The site location, environmental conditions, constructability issues, security, cost, durability and transport requirements contributed to the complexity of the project.
