This purpose built facility in the South West Health Campus was designed for the provision of radiation oncology services for the south west region of Western Australia. It will provide tertiary level clinical treatment and computer based treatment planning and will accommodate two new LINAC bunkers.

Pritchard Francis was the structural and civil engineering consultants for this project. The building envelope consisted of two gable roofed pavilions of similar form to the existing campus buildings. The super structure is steel framed with a metal roof and brick veneer perimeter walls.

Considerable savings on the structural cost were achieved through the prudent use of the large concrete radiation shielding bunker walls to transfer the wind loads. The site was located within an abandoned reticulation lake which posed a significant challenge to the stormwater drainage design.
